What this visa is

Global Talent is a two-stage route: an endorsing body confirms you are a leader (exceptional talent) or a potential leader (exceptional promise) in your field, then you apply for the visa itself. There is no employer, no minimum salary and no job offer. You choose the length of your grant up to five years, can work for anyone, freelance or run your own company, and reach Indefinite Leave to Remain in three years on the exceptional talent track.

The UK wanted a route that attracts world-class talent without tying it to a single employer, so that researchers and founders can move freely between institutions and ventures.

Who it is for

Researchers and academics endorsed by the Royal Society, British Academy, Royal Academy of Engineering or UKRI; digital technology professionals and founders endorsed through the tech route; and arts, film, fashion and architecture professionals endorsed by Arts Council England and its partners.

Why people choose it

No sponsor needed

You are not tied to any employer or job title.

Fast settlement

Full flexibility

No salary floor

Judged on your record, not your pay packet.

Prize fast-track
