What this visa is
The HPI visa lets graduates of universities on the Home Office global universities list move to the UK without a job offer. You get two years (three with a PhD) of unrestricted work, self-employment and job search. It does not lead to settlement on its own, so most holders switch into Skilled Worker or Global Talent before it ends.
It gives the UK a way to attract graduates from leading universities worldwide, including people who never studied in Britain.
